Mustang Information

I purchased this vehicle in Portland Oregon in the summer of 1998. I drove it every day for six months. During that time I replaced:

the rear suspension with 5 leaf, new shackles and bushings

new upper and lower control arms with new bushings

new front springs and perches

new thrust arm bushings

new steering gear (saginaw type)

rebuilt the power steering

new alternator

rear wheel bearings

When I returned to Ann Arbor, Michigan I spent 3 years "restoring" this Mustang. Pictures can be seen here. I had both doors and the trunk lid dipped and EDP coated. The trunk floor and drop offs have been replaced. There is a new quarter on the passenger side. The floor pans were generally in good shape, but have been patched in places. The whole undercarriage was then painted with POR-15. The hood is from a Mach 1 that I got in Houston. All original pieces chrome pieces have been rechromed, and the mouldings buffed and clear coated. I have spent nearly $2000 in Sikkens red paint and clear coat (6 coats). I still have a pint of red left. All of the gaskets have been subsequently replaced. When I put this back together, I added

4 new Centerline Autodrags, 15x10 in back, 15x8.5 in front
new slotted rotors and calipers in front
new carpet, headliner, sill panels, and deluxe door panels
restored deluxe center console
hood tie downs
dual exhaust cutout rear valence
dynamat throughout
alpine CD player and Polk MM 6x9s in back
new emblems and gas cap
restored front grill
relocated battery to rear

Holley 650 4 barrel
Edelbrock Performer Intake
hooker header with dual exhaust
Autometer Tach, Water temp, and Oil Pressure guages
new timing chain

The engine has 140,000 miles and burns a small amount of oil on startup (valves). When I was driving it daily, I used about a quart every 1200 miles. It still pulls very strong. The FMX transmission works well and seems to have a shift kit installed.

Interior

Like I mentioned previously, this car has new

carpet
door sills
deluxe door panels
door locks and handles
headliner
deluxe center console

The front and rear seats would need to be redone in order to be perfect. The fronts have decent looking covers on them.

Why I am selling.

I restored this car with the intent of keeping it for myself. Unfortunately, my father had a stroke and can no longer drive the car that we restored together. I now have that car, and cannot afford to keep both at my apartment complex. The car with sentimental value wins out. I have all the receipts for all parts and services. I have all the orginal mechanical parts, and some extra misc parts (i.e. new chin spoiler, new front and rear sway bars, etc.). I have the original 5 volume 1971 ford manuals, and the body assembly manual.
